Managing Director of PTA-DC & PTA Politics

As Managing Director of Planned Television Arts (PTA), DC a division of Ruder Finn, Sandy Trupp is responsible for creative strategies, new business and regional operations of the division. Her team develops media campaigns targeting national and local media for clients including spokespersons, celebrities, politicians, corporations and authors. Ms. Trupp also specializes in media training and publishing consultation.

Ms. Trupp is one of the most sought after media trainers in the country and has given her unique in-depth sessions to many CEOs, politicians and celebrities. Her clients include: Kaiser Permanente, Merriam-Webster, Inc., Congressional Quarterly, The National Geographic Society, ASPCA, Novartis, American Automobile Association (AAA), Consumer Healthcare Products Association, Volunteers of America, Brookings Institution, and the Hoover Institution. Her publishing clients include Rodale, Sterling, Penguin and others.

Ms. Trupp and her team specialize in bringing media to many press conferences. Most recently they had every network represented at the American Institute for Cancer Research press conference for a new report on cancer prevention. All the morning shows including TODAY, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, THE EARLY SHOW and CNN did coverage as well as NBC Nightly News, ABC World News Tonight and CBS Nightly News.

She has introduced and branded PTA Politics, a division that specializes in promoting issues, political spokespersons, think tanks, dot coms and events. The campaigns have included Brookings Institution, Hoover institution,. Democratic Courage PAC, Senator Max Cleland, Grassroots.com, Congressional Quarterly, King Publishing, American Legal Exchange Council's Report Card on Education, Bob Woodward, Health Care Reform Now! and 10 Minutes to Normal by Karen Hughes and many more from James Carville to Sen John McCain.

Ms. Trupp has worked in the publishing field for more than 20 years in the areas of publicity, marketing, acquisitions and product development. She was also a producer at NBC. Ms. Trupp works with many best-selling authors, including Sophia Loren, Paul Reiser, Stephen King, Harvey Mackay, Jack Canfield, Donald Trump, Rosemary Altea, James Carville, Paul Begala, Brad Meltzer, Letitia Baldrige, and Carole Jackson.

She developed the publicity strategy for COLOR ME BEAUTIFUL, which remained on the New York Times bestseller list for three years and was reprinted in every country in the world. During her career, Ms. Trupp created joint promotions for major corporations, including Campbell's Soup Company, JC Penney, Proctor & Gamble, Clairol, The Insurance Information Institute, Kodel, Gannett Corporation and Pepperidge Farms.

Her experience with book development includes coordinating projects with the Library of Congress, the Humane Society of the United States, The Smithsonian Institution, the National Museum of the American Indian, the American Academy of Facial and Plastic Reconstruction and National Wildlife Federation.

Ms. Trupp is also the co-author of the book, Office Emails that Really Click, Don't Stub Your Pinkie™ on the Space Bar. The book, published in October 2000 by Aegis Publishing, is a guide to office emails for everyone in the business world, from CEOs to freelancers to junior executives to receptionists.

Ms. Trupp gives talks to writers and professional groups. She has also produced several concerts at the Smithsonian's Baird Auditorium, Kennedy Center Terrace Theatre, University of the District of Columbia and George Washington University. She is a board member of the American News Women's Club and president of the Women in Publishing Group. She is also a member of many other organizations, including The Women's National Book Association and Women of Washington and Washington Women in PR (WWPR). She was honored by WWPR in 1997 for her PR achievements and mentoring efforts.

Ms. Trupp is a graduate of the University of Maryland and Peabody Conservatory of Music.
